Fiona Marriage from EST Connexions
Fiona is the area co-ordinator for the Essex, Southend and Thurrock group on
Fast Tomato which is made up of 180 schools, colleges and centres.
"We decided to implement Fast Tomato to help Schools to make more effective use
of PA (Personal Adviser) time by encouraging young people to carry out their
own research. It also helped that we knew that other Connexions Partnerships
are utilising the product and recommending it.
"The initial training from the Fast Tomato Team was excellent. I also got very
useful input on how to present Fast Tomato to the PAs and tutors. A short
presentation followed by getting them to log onto the system to gain hands on
experience has worked well.
"The Fast Tomato team couldn't have offered more support and have never failed
to give a clear explanation!
"Feedback has been particularly positive about the Careers Suggestions section
and Powersearch Tool. The cross-referencing of course and place suggestions is
also excellent. Comments from personal advisers has been encouraging and those
from tutors even better!
